Catch 22: How it Makes Me Feel

"Now, if you're blue
And you don't know where to go to
Why don't you go where fashion sits
Puttin on the ritz"

Catch 22 makes me feel that bit better equipped for the world. Puttin on the Ritz is all about understanding how to manage yourself in the wider world - as is the Catch 22 experience. Fred Astaire was one of the all time movie greats and while he made singing and dancing look easy, it undoubtedly took a lot of training and fine tuning. It's all about inspiration and aspiration!

Q & A: Selina Ditta

Selina Ditta, 27 was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire. After undertaking a media studies degree at Sheffield University, she moved into the world of work. She is now living in London and is currently undertaking a three month course in journalism at the Catch 22 Academy.

What's your greatest ambition?

I would love to write a song. What's more, I would love to write a song with Marsha Ambrosius...I think she's amazing.

If you were the lead in a romantic comedy, who would you choose as your leading actor?

Johnny Depp, just look at him!

If you could take only one item to a tropical island, what would it be and why?

Definitely my ipod. I need my music and You Tube. I can fend for food once I'm there.

If you could play any character in a film, who would it be?

Sleeping Beauty. I don't know why, maybe it's linked to some childhood memory or something.

If you were a superhero, who would be your arch nemesis?

Hmm....Probably Catwoman because her name is Selina and because she's one of the few female super heroes. For some reason, all the female baddies in films are called Selina.

Lost in Translation?

WORDS from Everynone on Vimeo.

Not anymore.  Before I started at Catch, I sometimes found it difficult to group what I wanted to say and convey it in a comprehensible way. Six weeks in, I find that I am able to communicate and express myself in a much clearer manner. This video, paints a sequence of images through the use of  everyday words. I hope that by the end of my Catch experience, I will be able to communicate with such fluidity.

A Voyage of Discovery

Where do I begin? It feels like a lifetime ago that we all turned up bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to undertake a journalistic adventure. One thing's for sure, it's certainly been an enlightening experience. The world of journalism is fast paced and the Catch 22 Academy reflects this both in its ethos and in practice. The experience has been an channel through which I have been able to strip away old habits and re-educate myself in the things that really matter. The vigorous training scheme doesn't simply equip you with the tools to start a dazzling career in journalism, it also pushes you to develop an array of invaluable skill sets.

Challenging. Exciting. Dynamic. Engaging. These are but a few words I would use to describe my experience so far....
